When Ella had enough courage to tell Justin her boyfriend abuses her constantly, he runs to find him to then beat him up. Justin could've gotten in a lot of trouble or gotten badly hurt, but he did it for Ella. No one would do that for someone they didn't love. That just shows more of how much he cares for her because Ella's boyfriend never even did anything to Justin so he had no reason to beat him up other than to do it for Ella.
Ella's boyfriend and his friends were in a gang and they kidnapped Ella, put a gun to her head and threatened to shoot her unless Justin agreed to join their gang and Justin agreed. He risked a big part of his life just to save Ella's. If Justin really didn't care for her, he could've just let them kill her but he didn't because he didn't want to lose her.
Although Justin is always arguing and screaming at Ella, one day he asks himself, "do I really like her?" Even though he already has a girlfriend. I think the only reason Justin says that he "hates" Ella and doesn't want her in his life because he has a girlfriend and might not want to break her heart or ruin their relationship. I think that's why he keeps denying his love for her because Justin knows that he actually likes Ella.
This book connects to a lot of people because sometimes people lie to themselves or hide what they're actually feeling.
Great job!
